The Sky Is Falling! … Or Is It?
Well, that certainly wasn’t on our meeting agenda! Right in the middle of our club meeting, we received an emergency evacuation notice from Washington Health. Talk about interrupting a good Rotary meeting! Fortunately, we made it through the unexpected interruption, and most importantly, everyone was safe and no one was hurt. It’s certainly a meeting we’ll remember!
A Special Thank You to Our Speaker – Harry Avila
A big thank you to our very own Harry Avila for sharing his knowledge and experience with our club. What was originally planned as a five-minute icebreaker turned into a fascinating look at Washington Health, its growth, and the important role Niles Rotarians have played in helping the organization become what it is today. Harry did his best to squeeze as much information as possible into the 19 minutes we had available. But honestly, this is a topic that could easily fill an hour or more! It was a great reminder of the impact our club members have had throughout our community, often in ways we may not fully appreciate. Our Rotarians don’t just support organizations from the sidelines; they help build, strengthen, and shape the community around us. Harry, we’ll have to get you back on the speaker schedule! There’s much more we’d love to hear.
The Top Hat Gala – An Incredible Night for Washington Health
This past week, I had the pleasure of attending my very first Top Hat Gala! A special thank you to the Kearns family for making it possible for me to attend and for serving as a Ruby Sponsor of this wonderful event. It was an incredible evening celebrating Washington Health and its commitment to advancing healthcare in our community. The gala raised more than $1 million toward bringing an advanced neurosurgical robotic platform to Washington Health, supporting highly precise, minimally invasive spinal and cranial surgeries. What made the evening even more special was seeing so many Niles Rotarians in attendance, showing their support for an organization that plays such an important role in our community. It was a powerful reminder that Rotary’s impact extends well beyond our weekly meetings. Our members are leaders, supporters, volunteers, and advocates for organizations that improve lives every day. I’m proud to be part of a club whose members consistently show up for their community.
