Growing the Rotary Family, One Connection at a Time

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Week 15 is here! First, I want to send a BIG thank you to every one of you for the work you continue to do in our community. Whether you’re volunteering, attending meetings, inviting guests, supporting a fundraiser, helping behind the scenes, or simply wearing your Rotary pin, you are making a difference. I have always heard that your best year in Rotary is the year you serve as Club President. After just 14 weeks, I can officially say…they were right! I am having an absolute blast! Running our meetings, attending other Rotary meetings, going to social events, participating in service projects, spending time with our members, meeting Rotarians from other clubs, and (of course), occasionally trying to keep everyone on schedule, has made these first 14 weeks incredibly rewarding. To all our Past Presidents, thank you for the time, energy, and leadership you have given to Niles Rotary. You have built the foundation that allows us to continue moving forward. To our future Presidents…Get ready. Your year is coming, and I can’t wait for you to experience the excitement, friendships, service, and fun that come with leading this amazing club.

Who’s On Your Rotary Radar?

Here’s my challenge for you this week: Think of one person. Someone you’ve worked with. A friend, a neighbor, a business owner. Someone you’ve met through another organization. Someone who loves giving back. Let’s get them connected! Maybe they belong in our Niles Rotary Club of Fremont or maybe one of the other clubs is a better fit. Either way, let’s get them into the Rotary family. Once they’re in…tell them to wear their Rotary pin. As Richard D. King once told me: “The pin is what gets you in.” One of my favorite things about Rotary is being out in the community and unexpectedly spotting another Rotarian. You see the pin, you walk over, and suddenly you’re talking to someone you’ve never met before. You hear their Rotary story. They hear yours. You discover what they are working on. Maybe you will find a way to help each other. That’s Rotary. It’s a global family, but sometimes it starts with something as simple as recognizing a pin across the room. So, this week, look around. And maybe… just maybe… you will find the next Rotarian.

Thank you for everything you do for Niles Rotary. I am honored to serve alongside each of you, and I am excited about what we will accomplish together in the months ahead. Let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep connecting. Let’s keep serving. And most importantly, let’s keep Serving All Mankind.
