International Service Chair
Job Description
The Club International Service Chair leads the club’s efforts to promote international understanding, goodwill, peace, and humanitarian service through global service projects and partnerships. This position helps connect the club with international Rotary initiatives and encourages member involvement in projects that address humanitarian needs around the world.
The International Service Chair works closely with the Club President, Rotary Foundation Chair, district leaders, partner clubs, and community organizations to identify and support meaningful international service opportunities aligned with the mission of Rotary International.
Primary Responsibilities
International Service Project Development
- Identify, plan, and support international humanitarian service projects and partnerships.
- Help develop projects that address global needs including health, education, clean water, economic development, peacebuilding, and disaster relief.
- Collaborate with other Rotary clubs, districts, and international organizations on global initiatives.
- Encourage member participation in international service opportunities and cultural exchange activities.
Global Partnerships & Collaboration
- Build relationships with Rotary clubs and organizations in other countries.
- Coordinate communication and collaboration with international project partners.
- Support sister club relationships and international fellowship opportunities when applicable.
- Promote cross-cultural understanding and goodwill through Rotary activities.
Rotary Foundation & Grant Support
- Work closely with the Rotary Foundation Chair to identify and pursue global grant opportunities.
- Assist with planning, documentation, and coordination for international grant-funded projects.
- Help ensure projects meet Rotary Foundation guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Promote member support for international humanitarian efforts and Foundation initiatives.
Education & Member Engagement
- Educate club members about Rotary’s international programs, initiatives, and Areas of Focus.
- Share information about global humanitarian issues and Rotary’s impact around the world.
- Encourage participation in international service projects, fundraising efforts, and Rotary events.
- Promote awareness of programs such as:
- Global Grants
- PolioPlus
- Rotary Peace Fellowships
- Youth Exchange
- International partnerships and disaster response efforts
- Informs the club President the use of DDF for International Service projects, global grants, and funding for WCSC.
Grants & Program Participation
- Support grant projects that address local and international community needs.
- Coordinate with district leadership and grant committees regarding grant requirements and timelines.
- Ensure reports and required documentation for district-sponsored programs and grants are completed and submitted properly.
- Lead the club’s efforts to qualify for Rotary Foundation grants, including district and global grants.
Public Image & Communication
- Work with the Communications and Public Image Committees to promote international service activities and accomplishments.
- Share project updates, success stories, and cultural experiences through club meetings, newsletters, social media, and community outreach.
- Highlight Rotary’s global impact and humanitarian mission.
Leadership & Administration
- Chair the International Service Committee and recruit volunteers to support projects and initiatives.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Board of Directors.
- Assist with long-term planning for the club’s international service efforts.
- Attend district international service meetings and Rotary training sessions when appropriate.
- Sitting member of the WCSC (World Community Service Committee) for Area 2 and 3.
Goal of the Position
To advance the humanitarian mission of the Niles Rotary Club of Fremont by promoting international understanding, global partnerships, and meaningful service projects that positively impact communities around the world through Rotary service above self.
