Job Description

The Club Social Chair is responsible for promoting fellowship, friendship, and member engagement through social and recreational activities for the club. This position helps strengthen relationships among members and creates enjoyable opportunities for connection outside of regular club meetings.

Traditionally chaired by the Immediate Past President, the Social Chair works closely with club leadership and members to organize events that foster camaraderie, strengthen club culture, and encourage active participation in Rotary fellowship.

Primary Responsibilities

Fellowship & Member Engagement

  • Promote acquaintance, friendship, and fellowship among club members.
  • Help create a welcoming and inclusive club environment for both existing and new members.
  • Encourage participation in social and recreational club activities.
  • Support efforts to strengthen member engagement and retention through fellowship opportunities.

Social Event Planning & Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate club social events and recreational activities throughout the Rotary year.
  • Develop a balanced calendar of social gatherings that appeal to a variety of member interests.
  • Coordinate logistics for social events, including venues, reservations, schedules, food, entertainment, and activities.
  • Assist with special celebrations, holiday events, recognition gatherings, family activities, and fellowship outings.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with the Club President, Board, Membership Chair, and Communications Committee to promote social activities.
  • Coordinate event promotion through newsletters, social media, club announcements, and the club website.
  • Encourage participation from members, spouses, families, guests, and prospective members when appropriate.

Event Support & Hospitality

  • Help welcome guests and new members at social functions and club events.
  • Encourage relationship-building and member interaction during club activities.
  • Support fellowship opportunities during meetings, fundraisers, service projects, and district events.

Leadership & Committee Support

  • Chair the Social Committee and recruit volunteers to assist with event planning and execution.
  • Develop creative ideas for fellowship activities that strengthen club culture and morale.
  • Provide updates and recommendations to the Board regarding social activities and member engagement.
  • Sitting member of the Niles Rotary Foundation Board

Goal of the Position

To strengthen fellowship, friendship, and member engagement within the Niles Rotary Club of Fremont by organizing enjoyable social and recreational activities that build lasting relationships and enhance the overall Rotary experience.
